Provo Center Street was Boardwalk’s second project with WRG and another opportunity to build on a strong partnership. Like every project, it came with its own set of challenges, from adapting to specific expectations in the field to making changes after framing was already underway.
Project Challenge
With a new building type and a new inspector to work with, there was a learning curve at the beginning of the project. Every inspector has different expectations and areas they pay particular attention to, so our team had to learn what mattered most on this project and adjust accordingly. The project also included several changes requested by the GC during construction. Some of those changes came after portions of the framing had already been completed, including removing and raising entry roofs and adjusting storefront window heights to nine feet.
The Boardwalk Solution
Rather than letting those changes slow the project down, our team worked alongside WRG to understand exactly what they wanted and adjust our approach moving forward.
Having multiple crews on site allowed us to keep several buildings moving at once and stay on schedule despite the changes. Just as importantly, our team maintained a positive attitude and remained willing to adapt.
Looking Ahead
The project strengthened an already positive relationship with WRG. Darren, WRG’s General Superintendent, told us we were doing great and that they “couldn’t ask for anything better.”
